„Social Way Down“ is the fullfillment of a childhood dream.

With the motorcycle I’ll be going from Hamburg, through the Eastern European countries towards Istanbul, over the Turkish-Syrian border on the Mediterranean along into Lebanon, further through Syria, Jordan to Egypt and then over the East African route down to the Cape.

This idea is not new, there have been some very interesting drivers before me, usually equally inspired by the famous tour “the long way down” from Ewan McGregor and Charly Boorman, or ” slowwaydown” from Florian Rolke, who mastered the 21.000km from Hamburg to Capetown last year with his SCHWALBE (WOW, you must see his site)
Certain was: only using the motorcycle to drive all the way, was too little for me. For a long time I have followed the development on the African continent and in the meantime am firmly convinced: YOU are Africa!

All of us should be conscious of the fact that in 30 years there will no longer be 1 billion disadvantaged people in Africa, but up to 2 billion. As a direct neighbor, we Europeans are needed to improve the chances of the next generation; otherwise this generation will be compelled to leave.

At lunch time I finally remembered to secure the name on twitter.
